Monsters? Is That How You See Them?

I'm a big fan of the Silent Hill games.  Personally, I have played all of them except for Homecoming now (I suck so badly at Homecoming that I've retired and am now watching my boyfriend play it for me - we're currently in Hell's Descent.  Go us!).

Personally, I find the series terrifying and I'm enjoying playing it.  It order of preference, I would put the games Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill, Silent Hill: Origins, Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill 4.  I'll have to wait until the end of Homecoming before I give my judgment on that, but currently it's rating pretty highly.

I love the atmosphere of the Silent Hill games, and live in constant fear of ever hearing an air raid siren.  Anyway, I thought I'd give you my top 10 memories of this series:

1.  "Monsters?  Is that how you see them" - Vincent's incredibly disturbing line in Silent Hill 3.  Is he messing with Heather's head or not?  I guess we'll never know.

2.  The fate of the cat - In the school level of Silent Hill there is a moment when you let a cat out of a locker.  If you open the same locker in the otherworld school, you find it's full of blood.  Poor kitty...

3.  Pyramid Head - especially in Silent Hill 2 where he was actually hostile and had a bad habit of hiding around corners, ready to spring out at you.

4.  The calmness of the main characters - most notably the original protagonist, Harry, who doesn't start to freak out until at least a third of the way into the game.

5.  The novelty endings - it just wouldn't be Silent Hill without the UFO endings which have to be seen to be believed.  The dog endings of the first two games are also amazing.

6.  Princess Heart - an unlockable costume for Heather in Silent Hill 3.  Try playing through the game with a straight face when your main character is dressed as an anime magical girl.

7.  Two-backs - a monster from Silent Hill: Origins.  The winner of the 'Oh my God, what the Hell is that!?' award.

8.  Victim 16 - even though I didn't enjoy the game, Victim 16 of Silent Hill 4 should get a mention purely because she was a very cool Sadako rip-off.  The cut scene where you encountered her was pretty cool.

9.  The radio show - a weird scene in a lift in Silent Hill 2.  It asks you creepy questions about the game and if you get them right you win a load of ammo and health drinks.

10.  'You're not here' -  the opening theme for Silent Hill 3.  Although all the music is great, this one earned a special mention for being so catchy that you'll find yourself humming it for days.  'Theme of Laura' comes in close second.

It was hard to make a top ten.  Commiserations go to other cool things - like the Lizard from the original game and the fairy who gives you the gold pipe Silent Hill 3 - that didn't quite make it...

I guess you already finished Homecoming What´s your opinion about it? I think is a pretty hard version from the silent hill series and a very dissaponting story predictable...

Oh goodness, I'd forgotten the 'Happy Birthday' phone call. That was certainly freaky...
