I've had (and still have) a Ball Python since around 1994!! I have never had any problems all of these years I've had him. The problem was with people. When I tell them that I have a snake they almost have a heart attack!! They also think I am WIERD. NOT true. He is so sweet. NEVER bites. Loves to be held. Very good type of snake to own! The most difficult part is finding a store where you can buy the mice and also having the heart to watch my snake strike and kill the mouse - (he prefers to eat them live). I am very careful on how I do this. I watch that my snake does not get harmed by the mouse. Other than that, great pet to own! I give him baths too. He gets treated like a baby. I have to keep him in a room with the door shut because I own five cats.....and.......like they say "curiosity kills the cat" - so true!

AbbigailPOs Feeling tired	Posted Nov 7th, 2009 at 7:28AM, last updated Nov 7th, 2009 at 7:32AM yeah i never saw it anything more than fasinating when i watched my bole python eat, i loved the part where she would un hook her jaw...:( but... the store we baut our mice at ran out of mice and well... they sold us baby rats... they where so cute (i knew someone with a pet rat and wanted one as a pet someday) poor baby rats... they didnt even have their eyes opened yet... they where so cute. youre lucky to still have yours, my ***** brother and i had to share her (we where little) and had her for 4 years and i came home one day to find he had sold her to one of his friends... * hole. i would have given him money NOT to sale her, he needed cash he said. *** hole... :( i WILL get another one someday when i am read.
gingernut	Posted Nov 7th, 2009 at 10:03AM You are not weird - they are fascinating. I have 2 little boys and live in Africa - we have had a few snakes we caught in the garden as pets - a varigated bush snake, brown house snake, egg eater etc - all non-venomous of course (we have some of the most lethal snakes in the world, sometimes in the garden!) - the problem though is feeding them, they get tired of gekos, and I don't have the heart to feed them baby mice - so after a couple weeks we released them again, let nature take its' course - and in our case it is the cat that kills the snakes...But they are very interesting pets...
