Katydid

Right now my world is filled with the sound of Katydids.
Their "outter-skins" holding on to all the fence posts and the bark of the trees.
They talk to each other....first a moment of silence then one sings out, the others begin, louder and louder... till they blend into one sound, then back to silence.

Oliver Wendell Holmes expresses his love for the Katydid in "To An Insect" ......

I love to hear thine earnest voice,
  Wherever thou art hid,
Thou testy little dogmatist,
  Thou pretty katydid!
Thou mindest me of gentlefolks, -
  Old gentlefolks are they,-
Thou say'st an undisputed thing
  In such a solemn way.

Have a pleasant day!
