Mercy: Chapter 2
“You guys ready?” says a tall dark skinned, athletic bodied late aged teenage boy, with short black hair and brown eyes.
“Ready?” replies a smaller skinny, light skinned boy, with wavy blonde hair and blue eyes around the same age of the other boy.
“Do you even need to ask?” Alastair chimes in, his hand locked in a tight grip with the teenager.
Applying pressure with all his might, his face and hand turning red the light skinned kid grinds his teeth staring at Alastair’s hand then up at him, no emotion being shown on his face, clearly unfazed by his challenger’s futale attempt.
“You done yet?” Alastair asks as he returns the favor squeezing his foe’s hand to death, his opponent quickly letting out a loud yell.
“I give, I give” he pleads
“Those aren’t that tap-out words Jack”
“Fine Mercy, please Mercy” he hollers, Alastair swiftly releasing Jack’s hand as he withdraws it, rubbing his nearly crushed hand. “Damn man you didn’t need to crush my hand that bad. You already knew you were going to win.”
“You’re not going to get any stronger if I take it easy on you. I’m just giving you something to fight and get stronger for.”
“Yeah sure whatever you say”
“Take it easy J, Whelan’s right. The only way to get better is to take on someone when they’re playing their best.”
“Shut up Dwayne, who asked you for your opinion anyway?”
“Who do you think you’re telling to shut up J?” Dwayne asks, his tone growing slightly louder as he sizes up Jack
“The fact that you even need to ask shows why you might not graduate”
“Why you little!...” Dwayne screams raising a fist, Jack doing the same until Alastair steps in holding both back.
“Ladies, ladies calm down as much as I love cat fights, one between you two is not what I have in mind”
“What did you say Whelan?” questions Dwayne
“I think he just called us a pair of ladies Dwayne” Jack answers
“You know what I’m thinking we should do about that?”
“Already ahead of you”
Winding up to hit Alastair, he quickly ducks and rolls forward, both his friend’s knuckles clashing against one another with thundering smash, pulling their hands back in pain. Standing back up Alastair starts laughing.
“Do you two even know how to fight as a team because I’m pretty sure punching one another is not my definition of teamwork”
Charging Alastair attempting to corner him against the back wall, Alastair takes off running up the wall, pushing off doing a flip over both Jack and Dwayne, now behind him. Cracking a little smile, he turns and runs as Dwayne and Jack change their course of action.
“You block the door Dwayne, We’ll trap him in the middle”
Jumping over seats, Dwayne reaches the door barely before Alastair who does a swift about face flying over the first row of seats only to run into Jack cornering him on the other side. As they both close in on him, Alastair backing up against a desk, he turns around and plants his two hands firmly on the edge of the desk, pushing upward until pulling himself downward, sliding underneath the desk and between Dwayne’s legs. Rapidly returning to his feet, he reaches for the door, only for it to open for him, a gigantic ripped man, around 6’7 wearing a black suit and tie, with shades blocking his path. Not fazed, Alastair shakes his head.
“You know Sean you look like a real douchebag wearing sunglasses inside”
“Keep your trap shut and come with me Alastair, your father needs you”
“You can at least say please. Don’t you have any manners at all”
“Quit being a smartass and just come with me”
“Sorry to disappoint you but I don’t roll that way, no offense”
“I’m leaving, I’m leaving. Jack, Dwayne, I’ll see you guys later, try your best not to kill one another”
“Don’t worry we set aside our differences for someone”
“Glad to hear that”
Exiting the room, brushing past Sean on the way out, Alastair walks down the quiet hall lined with lockers, only a few other students in sight. Turning his head around he looks at Sean, appearing to look straight ahead, Alastair knowing otherwise beneath those sunglasses, Sean shooting him the biggest death glare. Chuckling to himself they reach the end of the hall and walk down a flight of stairs, the doors leading outside near. Leaving the building, Alastair and Sean both enter a parked limo a driver waiting for them. With the door shut behind them, shortly after the engine turns to life the journey back home started. Waiting in silence for a few minutes, Alastair soon speaks up interrupting the awkward situation.
“So Sean what is it that Mark needs me for?”
“You’ll know when you get their”
“Nobody likes secrets Sean”
“Go to hell kid”
“Ooo harsh, you hurt my feelings Sean. I…I just might stttttart tearing up a little” Alastair jokes faking tears.
Shaking his head annoyed Sean pulls out a tazer from his suit and aims it Alastair. “Your father said if you started to get annoying to use this to shut you up”
“And did anybody tell you, you only have one shot with that so you better not miss” Staring one another down, Sean shakes his head and stores it back in his suit, Alastair smirking as he shakes his head deciding to readjust his focus from the car to outside.
Closing his eyes his ears fall upon the noises created from the world outside, no pretty. Passing by a series of apartment houses he hears a young couple arguing inside, a baby crying in the midst of it, when suddenly a glass shatters, a woman wailing pleading for the phone to call the cops. Pulling away from the houses, down another street, the sound of an alarm suddenly begins to shout in his ears, multiple fast footsteps speeding away, an owner calling for the cops to stop them.
“What is this world coming too?” Alastair asks himself listening onto to chaos of the modern world. If there is anything he hates the most in the world it’s those that cause destruction to the lives of those who are innocent, no greater offender than his father Mark.
Abruptly the vehicle stops, Sean exiting the back door not saying a word, Alastair not even wanting to ask. Following Sean’s direction, he notices him heading towards a lone worried, panicked man standing alone next to a dumpster, briefcase in hand. “Must be another deal” Alastair tells himself, leaving Sean to his business.
Listening to the outside world once again the ugliness is no better beautified than it was before. Sirens scream in the distance chasing down a speeding car, a man cries for help as his soon to be murderer flees, his last attempts for aid falling on deaf ears. Paying sole attention on the chaos around him, a gunshot soon booms in his ear, a ring following there after. Looking out the window where Sean was headed, he watches as a smoking gun is stored back in his vest, a large blood wound on the man with the suitcase expanding, dropping to the ground, letting go of the briefcase. Not paying any attention to the dying man, next to him, Sean grabs the suitcase and casually walks back to the vehicle, throwing his hands down in disbelief as he stares at his tie, blood splatted over it.
“What the hell was that!?” demands Alastair as Sean walks back in the limo, the vehicle non chalauntly taking back off onto the road.
“Rudeness if you ask me? I mean what kind of man spits blood over someone’s suit. I just had it cleaned too.”
“You shoot a man and all your ******* worried about is your suit. What did he do to deserve to be shot anyway? Judging from the way he was acting when you got there he was clearly new to this whole life”
“The ***** didn’t show up with all of my money, said that school cost more than he thought for his daughter so he had to keep some of the money that I lent him out to help pay for it in the first place although I clearly stated that I wanted it all back with int…”
“You just shot a man for coming to you for help in putting his daughter through school!? What part of that makes it sound okay at all!?”
“The part where he didn’t have all of my money, that’s what. I don’t see what the big deal is anyway kid. You think by now you would be used to this line of work.”
“I am, doesn’t mean I think what I think is done is correct. There are innocent and guilty men in this world, and you just killed an innocent one!”
“Whoa, calm down there killer you may burst a blood vessel there”
“I’m going that giant *** pimple attached to your neck in a moment.”
“…Look kid, either you’re able to make in this world or you can’t! It’s the ******* law of the jungle out here, survival of the fittest. He just stuck his nose where he shouldn’t have in the first place and he paid for it and if you don’t accept that fact soon, that there are killers out here in this world that are just plain stronger and more powerful than others, who can do however as they please you’re going to be looking up at the inside of a casket very soon.”
Alastair smirks “I think you need to learn what side of the line you’re one before you go start making threats”
“Really? We’ll just see whose right then one day won’t we”
“I guess so”
Finishing up their debate, the vehicle suddenly stops, the back door opening to a bright blinding light, the limo’s windows doing a great job of keeping it out during their ride. Letting Sean out first Alastair steps out behind him, back home.
