A Wonderful Day At The Ocean

Yesterday hubby and I and our dog played hooky.
We spent a glorious afternoon at the pacific ocean.
Husband had a toy on a very long line and would throw, and our dog would race out into the surf to get it.
While capturing hubby and our dog on video, I paid little heed to the incoming tide.
I Captured our dog hightailing it to shore, and that is when it hit me.
Once again my beloved ocean reminded me, that I must always pay attention to her,
as her awesome waves hit me at thigh height,
I looked behind me and saw another awesome wave headed for me.

The first wave just soaked me from mid thigh down,
this next one would plant me firmly on my bottom if I did not pay heed and get out of its way.
Had I had a change of clothes I would have stood my ground and felt the fantastic power and energy of my beloved ocean.
Perhaps next spring when we go again,
For Friday my sweet man heads out to sea for 4 months.
As he heads off to work, I will head to the sea with our dog,
Once again as my tears mix with her salty spray, I will feel her embrace,
but that will be another story.
For now I will treasure each and every moment my hubby and I have together,
Our walks down to the beach with our dog.
Blessed Be
Misty

"I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying."

Nothing is more exhilarating than facing nature's power head on! A lovely and very touching account.

Mister Grey You have such a lovely way with words,
You made it so real that I could almost see and feel all that you have discribed
You are so right, there is "Nothing is more exhilarating than facing nature's power head on!"
Thank you for sharing it
Blessed Be

I can't take credit for the poem Misty, it's by John Masefield :) Reading your account reminded me of it though so I felt an urge to share that particular verse.
Here's the whole thing:

Sea-Fever

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face and a grey dawn breaking.
I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

Mr Grey,
I thank you so very much for sharing it with me.
As I read the poem, I was transported to that sea,
I could see the tall ship, and hear the winds song
and geel the mist from the oceans spray.
for me the call of the sea is a call that i can not ignore
She calls to me and I hamust answer
For the sea is my sanctuary
when in need it restores my strength and energy
the sea is gentle and loving at times, but not to be completely trusted
for she can turn on a dime, and claim for her own
those who do not pay heed.

Mr Grey please do forgive me for going on so, for when it come to the sea, I do have a tendency to be come one with her, and I do so get carried away
I am glad that we have met and I truely enjoy our time together, tis a special friendship indeed
Blessed Be
Misty
