Childhood Memories

I think there are many people that have very fond memories of going on family summer vacations to the beach, perhaps especially those of us living on the East Coast.  But I never realized just how many people didn't have these experiences growing up, at least not in the same way.

While dating a really wonderful guy, let's say in the not to distant past, the topic came up in conversation.  He told me that, growing up on the northern part of the West Coast, that yes, he and his family would go to the beach, but the water was cold, too cold for swimming, and the terrain was rough and covered in forest.  Not exactly what I picture when I remember splashing in the waves and building sand castles on the beach in Ocean City, MD.

I was fortunate to be able to take him to visit "My Ocean" one summer weekend and share some of my favorite beach experiences with him; walking on the beach, pizza on the boardwalk, shopping at my favorite souvenir shop, funnel cake :)  I will always remember sharing those things with someone who was experiencing them for the first time, and how truly special it was.

I have similar memories. Now I spend time on Assateague Island, surf fishing. I think Maryland and Delaware have some of the best beaches.

Presence~ Absolutely :) Many thanks ;)
