Blackbird Fly

Have loved the Beatles since I was 12 never really got into the boy bands of the 80s or 90s, why did I need to these guys were it.   Music and lyrics always outstanding,  I have a book that is full of the poetry/lyrics from the Beatles songs it is one of my favourites.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly.
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see.
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.
Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.
Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly.
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

a great and very simple song indeed!!!<br />
I love it as well.

Well you guys know that it was written about the racial disharmony going on in the 60's in mind, Blackbird refers to African-Americans.

That is probably true but, for me it has always made me think of my daughter growing up and eventually getting out on her own...I use to sing it to her every night and I still do from time to time.. but it is interesting to know the original meaning.
