Here Comes the Sun

The Beatles are the soundtrack of my childhood.  My brother was a rabid fan, and as a result, I loved them through osmosis.  Their music brings good feelings every time one of their songs comes on.
I can remember, every place we lived, (we moved around a lot) I'd hear my brother's Beatles albums coming from his room.  When I grew up, I realized that he was right all those years.  They were prolific and utterly unique songwriters.  They were a legitimate phenomenon, and deservedly so.
To say that I love them is really an understatement.  They are part of my life.
One of my favorite songs of theirs, of course, is, "Here Comes The Sun."  George Harrison is reputed to have written it in Eric Clapton's garden, using Clapton's guitar as well.  It's a sweet story, because Paul and John apparently thought George couldn't write songs.  Then he came up with this gem.  It's so simple and beautiful; so evocative and tender:

Here comes the sun (du dn du du)
Here comes the sun
And I say
Its alright

Little darling
Its been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling
It seems like years since its been here

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say
Its alright

Little darling
The smiles returning to the faces
Little darling
It seems like years since its been here

Here comes the sun (du dn du du)
Here comes the sun
And I say
Its alright

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes (four times)

Little darling
I see the ice is slowly melting
Little darling
It seems like years since its been clear

Here comes the sun (du dn du du)
Here comes the sun
Its alright

Here comes the sun (du du du du)
Here comes the sun
Its alright
Its alright

Unfortunately, John wasn't at the recording studio during that time. I think he and Yoko were recovering from a car crash.

If you listen to the last "it seems like years since..." it comes out as "it seels like..." crossing the sound of the words "feels" and "seems" Try listen carefully.... ; ) Just a bit of Beatle trivia.

omg! i loveee this song! i just sang this song and Stand by Me (John Lennon) for the talent show! it went splendid!! the entire audience sang with me and the energy was great! This song makes me happy and hopeful, just like the beatles!! let me ask does Lennon sing in the chorus to this?? Thnx!!

Winter is always a drag for me so I always listen to this song to get me through the winter until summer! Reminds me of all the great times I've had during my summers!

:) I love this song, it always make me smile and it's my and my boyfriend's "song" :)

"Blackbird" has joined "Greensleeves" in the hall of forever songs, imho -- and not the only Beatles tune that will be found there

Always delivers a smile ^_^
