I Love the Color Purple
Purple is an interesting color. It is an in-between color... A many-faceted color. It is a color that can be merry and thoughtful and airy all at once. Perhaps that is why I identify with it so well. Purple is a color that cannot be held down by rules and expectations.
You see, purple is a combination of blue-- cool, relaxing, and pensive-- and red-- warm, playful, and exciting. Purple seems to have the combination of both it's "parent colors" characteristics. Like the forbidden marriage of mortal Beren and elven Luthien, the two colors created something new that was more than either one of them alone could be. (And, yes, I just made a Tolkien reference using colors. LOL!)
Purple, therefore, is a beautiful, versatile color. Depending on what other hues it is paired with, the same shade of purple can seem bright and fun, or deep and tranquil. That, along with the natural loveliness of the color, makes it one of my favorites.
