I Love the Holidays
On Thanksgiving Hubby's Stepmom was in the hospital so she and he dad did not get a real Thanksgiving dinner. Today I am cooking for them. I have a cheese and cracker platter ready to go with Colby Jack, Mozzarella, New York Sharp Cheddar, and Pepper Jack cheeses, as well as 6 different types of crackers. Last night I made the pumpkin pie and I woke up at 7 to throw the turkey in the oven, I grated and squeezed lemons and oranges over it and then shoved more inside the turkey, after cooking for two hours I mixed up a maple, brown sugar, and sage glaze and coated the top. Last night, I cut up bread and dried it out in the oven for tow hours, then this morning I chopped celery and onions, fried up some spicy breakfast sausage, mixed up some broth, sage, and coarse salt then, I added in some dried cranberries to finish off the dressing. I am also making candied sweet potatoes covered in marshmallows, my "special" mashed potatoes (secret ingredient: french onion chip dip!), everyone loves them. Of course, corn, rolls, and green beans. I really do hope they enjoy their dinner!
