The Film: Rockfresh

RockFresh is a film by Danny Lee about a crew of graffiti artists ( Axis, Clae, Kofie, Trixter, and Tyer) who are trying to bridge the gap between illegal street art and a legitimate creative career. What I like best about the film, is that you get to see a glimpse of the process of an artist-- through their sketch books, as they are sketching and creating. One artist shows you step by step how he creates his unique trucker hats... one takes you to a screen printing shop and shows you how he prints his clothing line. We get to experience graffiti from a neighborhood committee-like member (which is hilarious)... as well as hear the artists perspective on their own work. You get to hear their thoughts. One of my favorite elements of the film is how there is poetry and philosophy interspersed between scenes. It's quite lovely and inspiring! It makes me wanna rock fresh!!
