No doubt that the fight scenes and special effects in The Matrix revolutionized action movies during the time. Unfortunately, every action movie after that started spamming the whole running on walls, flying crap to the point of nausea. In the Matrix there was a purpose for people being able to do that which was an integral part of the plot; and it wasn't in real life (except for Neo). But Charlie's Angels, Crouching Tiger and a whole host of other movies had people able to do ridiculous maneuvers for no plausible reason. These effects were to action films during the 2000's, what Autotune was is to music today. It was cool the first time, but you really start to hate it when everyone else jumps on the bandwagon.
