egally Blonde - both the first and second were collaborative efforts between 2 women that met by chance, Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah Lutz. Karen McCullah Lutz graduated with me from James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia, in 1988.
Now, I would love to tell you that I KNEW her - wouldn't that make the story more interesting? But... I didn't... but it sure is fun to know that the mastermind (co-mastermind) behind Legally Blonde (1 & 2) and also the movie that jumpstarted Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger's career (10 Things I Hate About You) graduated from my university the same year that I did!
Ironically, our graduation speaker was a man named Phoef Sutton, who happened to have also graduated from JMU and wrote for the sitcome "Cheers" and then went on to write other scripts (one of my favorite but I like mushy, cheesy movies - "Mrs. Winterbourne")! Side Note: Best graduation speaker I have ever had to listen to!!
