There are so many things to say about this book...
First of all: Whenever I say that the Neverending Story is my favourite book people give me that "What, how old is she?" look and this just shows that they have no idea what the book is like.
None of the movies that were made based on this beautiful book ever came close to the original book.
I'm German and I read the original German version and I don't know if it's much better than all the translation but I find the language and rhymes are very important in the book. Especially because my absolute favourite part in the book is Uyulala who talks in rhymes only and this is so beautiful in German.
I often see movies or read books where I think that thoughts were taken from the Never Ending Story... which shows how much of an impact this story has had on people and how many ideas are still taken from it.
And I'm always on the edge of crying when Bastian finally forgets himself.
Plus: I always felt very close to Bastian.
