have been a fan of this Baseball team since 1967. I grew up in Brooklyn, about 45 minutes from Shea Stadium's home in Flushing, Queens. My Dad took me to my first game in '67. I still have scorecard...To this day, I'm not sure why I became a Met fan. They sucked up 'til 1969, whrn they won it all. And my Dad was a longtime Yankee fan...Still, there was something about them...Maybe I identified with how bad they were - 'underdogs'...'Can't anybody here play this game,?' Casey Stengel asked. The names from the past-Bud Harrelson, George Theodore, Tug McGraw, etc...I can still picture them...
I've suffered with them for so long...Even when it looked like the Mets could win their division, I kept waiting for Atlanta to regain both their senses and first place...The Mets don't win, I was used to that...But then they did...
So here we go again...The Mets are holding on to first place, and all is good...For Now.
