A Navy Brat

I grew up the daughter of a Navy man. My dad was always connected with a squadron, sometimes an aircraft carrier, so we always lived by the ocean.

We never lived on the east coast, but we lived up and down the west coast, from Washington in the north to San Diego in the south. We also lived on Oahu and the tiny island of Guam. I have always found the ocean fascinating, calming, exciting and somewhat scary.

I don't know how many people, who get as seasick as I do, and feel extremely anxious when in the ocean and not able to see the bottom, actaully can say they LOVE the ocean. I can't imagine living more than 5 miles from the ocean. The sound of waves at night is better than a sleeping pill.
