I have used a wood stove here in my country house for 35yrs or more. Some woods smell better burning, I prefir fir and ceder to alder or hemlock. I am sure my kids will remember the smell of our wood burning stove for the rest of their lives

Asthma, wood smoke, and mold spores on wood is a very bad combination. You made the right choice. Go to the store & buy some liquid smoke and put some in a can with a little water. Heat on the range and voila' instant smoke smell! Have a great day!

Living in a more rural area then most, Wood is a major source of heat during the winter. Wood burning hot water boilers are a common sight. You often can smell the smoke in the air on a cold day. ( which is everyday between Thanksgiving and the middle of March just about- Today its warm out 29 degrees ) lol
