I Love the Thought of Being In Love

I love just the thought of being in love. I can say that I've been in love but the thing is that even if I expressed my feelings a few years ago, he would still be married now. But here is what I've learned from that experience.....

Constantly thinking about him

Catching a glimpse of him or where ever I see him

All the butterflies in my stomach before I see him

These are all the qualities that excite me about being in love. These are the things that I took away from this situation. I can say that I was heartbroken when the year ended and he was on his honeymoon, but I didnt tell him. If he knew, I think that would have been more devastating then not letting him know. But in retrospect, I will always love the thought about being in love.

No offense, but I think you're confusing 'being infatuated' with 'being in lust' and 'being in love.' What you are describing happens in the beginning of a relationship, but if you are fortunate enough to 'get with' the person that excites you, then something much deeper and profound happens to you over time as you become more intimately acquainted, and that is what most people describe as love.

I don't think it's possible to keep that same spark of initial attraction with the same person after years and decades (I'm sure many will disagree with this because they will say that they are still very attracted to their partners, maybe even more-so, but I would still contend that the later attraction is different than the initial attraction which is filled with mystery and possibility) but what comes of it is much more meaningful and fulfilling.
