A lot of people enjoy the idea of Viking peoples, but personally I'm grateful to not live during their era.
It's interesting that my family on my father's side has Norwegian and Danish as well as Scottish. I remember reading that unlike other nomadic peoples, the Norse Vikings did customarily rape the lands they pillaged. Namely, that no children were to be born of any such unions because they would be considered of lesser blood and therefore weak, and weakness was death.
I have read countless other histories detailing the opposite to be true so I really wish I had more information of my family tree to see where the lines got mingled an to what degree.
