Sometimes, Music Is All I Got

Saying I love music is an understatement. It's everything to me. I don't play any instruments nor can I sing. That doesn't matter to me because so many people have already written songs that say what I feel. They play instruments so beautifully, it gives me this intense feeling in my chest. I listen to a very wide range of music. I listen to a lot of music with an open mind. Most of the music I don't like (Top 40, "hip-hop", and new & black metal) are wonderful examples of musicians who have no feeling or connection with their lyrics. Lyrics are the most important thing to me when I listen to a song. Some of my favorite songwriters are Brandon Boyd, Dan Auerbach, Paul McCartney, and Chris Chu just to name a few.

Music is my therapy. Sometimes I need words to get me by. Some days, I need an instrumental because the music makes me feel more than words can. I've cried when I've heard certain songs. Music expresses all of my emotions. When I don't know how to tell someone how much I love them, I find a song that gets that feeling across. When I'm sad, I listen to music that comforts me. Music made me realize I'm not alone in this world and so many people share the same feelings as me. I've met so many amazing people through music and it's really been my lifesaver.
