Hurt - (orignally By Nine Inch Nails-covered By Johnny Cash)

I hurt myself today,
To see if I still feel,
I focus on the pain,
The only thing that's real,

The needle tears a hole,
The old familiar sting,
Try to kill it all away,
But I remember everything,

What have I become,
My sweetest friend,
Everyone I know,
Goes away in the end,

And you could have it all,
My empire of dirt,
I will let you down,
I will make you hurt,

I wear this crown of thorns,
Upon my liars chair,
Full of broken thoughts,
I cannot repair,

Beneath the stains of time,
The feelings disappear,
You are someone else,
I am still right here,

And you could have it all,
My empire of dirt,
I will let you down,
I will make you hurt,

If I could start again,
A million miles away,
I will keep myself,
I would find a way,

I know I have published a full song, but I struggle to pick one particular part.
When I first heard this version I saw the video that Cash did for it too.
I can honestly say this is one of few songs that have made me cry the first time I ever heard them.
I am aware Cash did not write this song however, he puts his mark on it.
I relate to this song because at my lowest points when I have sat back and thought about things I have done.
I have truly hated myself.
For the bad things I have done and the people I have hurt with my actions.
These lyrics reflect that, the repetitive hurting myself(not physically mind) as I think over and over about the stupid things I have done.
How the people who love me have stood by and watched me on a self destructive path that has led me to make mistakes and hurt them and others.
I realise life is a lesson, but if I dead tomorrow, I wouldn't die a saint and I also wouldn't have much to leave behind, other then memories and I would hope that for all the bad stuff I've done, I would be forgiven by the people I hurt and they would know even though I am downright stupid at times.
I really loved each and every one of them for standing by me.
