Vienna--Billy Joel.

Slow down you crazy child
You're so ambitious for a juvenile
But then if you're so smart tell me why
Are you still so afraid?
Where's the fire, what's the hurry about?
You better cool it off before you burn it out
You got so much to do and only
So many hours in a day

But you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want
Or you can just get old
You're gonna kick off before you even get halfway through
When will you realize...Vienna waits for you

Slow down you're doing fine
You can't be everything you want to be
Before your time
Although it's so romantic on the borderline tonight (tonight)
Too bad but it's the life you lead
You're so ahead of yourself
That you forgot what you need
Though you can see when you're wrong
You know you can't always see when you're right(you're right)

You got your passion you got your pride
But don't you know that only fools are satisfied?
Dream on but don't imagine they'll all come true
When will you realize
Vienna waits for you

Slow down you crazy child
Take the phone off the hook and disappear for a while
It's alright you can afford to lose a day or two
When will you realize...
Vienna waits for you.

And you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want
Or you can just get old
You're gonna kick off before you even get halfway through

Why don't you realize...Vienna waits for you
When will you realize...Vienna waits for you

Yeah, I know. I mean, I don't mind some light metal or alt. metal if it's not all about screaming or playing as fast or as loud as you can. Some metal songs can be quite beautiful if they allow themselves to sing instead of scream. That being said, what I think is metal is mostly the oldie stuff, which is basically pop music today. Don't like 'Lords of the carcass of doom on a bleak winter's morning' type metal! ;)<br />
<br />
OOOOOOOHHH!<br />
<br />
Don't know why I didn't mention this before, 'Stop, Hey, What's That Sound' by Buffalo Springfield. Can't find it on youtube for you, but it's somewhere around. Hmm. Two secs.<br />
<br />
Lovely, if you go to http://www.playlist.com you can type it in to their search engine, you might have to make a profile, but it takes two seconds, and it's worth it. You can listen to any song you want that you can't find anywhere else.

Oh boy! I get so excited about finding new music! <br />
Especially oldies. Whenever I'm upset or something I put some oldies on and my mood just shoots right up! <br />
<br />
Ohh okay good. My sister listens to that type of music, they all have really weird names too. If I hear it for too long it gives me a headache.

Hee hee! Yeah, 'bridge over troubled water', 'scarborough fair', 'the times they are a-changing' etc. etc.<br />
<br />
No, not too loud really, not all that loud at all. No, don't like that 'screamy metal' either.

Ohhh I've heard my dad talk about Garfunkel I think that name was mentioned on a show, so I suppose I have but I haven't heard their music. <br />
<br />
I did youtube it! It's a nice song! Very nice lyrics to I must say.<br />
=)<br />
<br />
Ohh, maybe I can youtube that one as well ha ha.<br />
I will check it out for sure. As long as it's not like...screamy metal that they sound like growling animals I would most likely like the song!=)<br />
So maybe!

Oh I bet you have. Paul Simon of Simon And Garfunkel. Very famous. <br />

You should youtube it. Like now! Bet you won't feel so crushed after! :) I'm going to listen to it right now.<br />
<br />
Peep show is a british comedy, new enough, not too many people outside Britian and Ireland would have heard of it. Don't know if you'll like the actual song though, it's a bit modern punk-ish perhaps. ;) who knows?

No I've never seen it! Maybe my father has. <br />
<br />
It seems like a great song, I'd have to listen to it of course, and I plan to, I like expanding my music library.<br />
<br />
Billy Joel and Sir Elton John are wonderful together as well, I love them both. All their songs give me wonderful feelings. <br />
<br />
Oh really? I've never heard of that one either!=(

Have you ever seen the comedy 'peep show'? Flagpole sitta is the theme song.<br />
<br />
Not as impressed by the other stuff of his/theirs I have heard. The fingertip quote gives me shivers though.<br />
<br />
I love old music too. This song Is just beautiful, I love the piano at the start. <br />
<br />
One of my semi-secret shames (I'm not ashamed!!!) is my love for the song 'You can call me al' by Paul Simon. Always puts a smile on my face.

I really enjoy the oldies much more than the newer music. I find that the new music doesn't have the same type of soul. <br />
<br />
Billy Joel is a musical genius. =)

Me too. I've always loved this song, loved it before you were born, loved it when I was about your age. That's true art, when it can speak through the ages.

Yeah this song seems to be playing a lot in my house these days.<br />
<br />
I don't believe I have ever heard of Harvey Danger though his lyrics sound wonderful.<br />
<br />
I really do like these lyrics! <br />
=D

That really reflects my mood at the moment, Vienna waits for you.<br />
<br />
You got your passion, you got your pride<br />
But don't you know only fools are satisfied.<br />
<br />
That reminded me of some lyrics off of 'flagpole sitta' by Harvey Danger.<br />
<br />
'I'm not sick but I'm not well<br />
And I'm so hot cause I'm in hell<br />
Been around the world and found<br />
That only stupid people are breeding<br />
The cretins cloning and feeding<br />
And I don't even own a tv.'<br />
<br />
Two other quotes from the song I particularly enjoy, digressing from the topic a little are;<br />
<br />
'Fingertips have memories<br />
Mine can't forget the curves of your body'<br />
<br />
And<br />
<br />
'I hear the voices in my head<br />
I swear to God it sounds like they're snoring<br />
But if you're bored then you're boring<br />
The agony and the irony, they're killing me'<br />
<br />
;)
