I love this song!!

This particular song 'IRIS' by the goo goo dolls was in the movie 'City of Angels' with Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan. This is where I believe I first heard the song and it was played at the most perfect time and scene within the movie.



The song was probably written for the movie as the lyrics coincide precisely with the theme of the movie.



'Seth' is an Angel played by (Nicholas Cage) who becomes infatuated with a human Maggie, a surgeon played by (Meg Ryan), who can feel his presence. ( I'd give up forever to touch you cause I know that you feel me somehow), and soon becomes one of the rare people who can see him, although she doesn't realize he's an Angel. (I dont want the world to see me cause I don't think that they'd understand).



Meg understands....she just not sure WHAT she is understanding but she knows there is something very deep about this new man she has met, she just doesn't know exactly why he's so intriguing. (Perhaps the fact that he is NOT a man... - just sayin')



The two instantly have a mutual attraction and quickly form a connection between them but it's complicated.... ..(as most relationships are). There are engaging moments between them and it doesn't take long for Maggie to realize something is wrong, very wrong with Seth, esp. after she cuts him with a knife...and he doesn't bleed. ( you bleed just to know you're alive )He must decide whether to break his pact with the spirit realm and lose his eternal life to come back as a human on earth so that he could be in the life realm with the one true love he has ever known...Maggie.



Then ......



Well, you just have to watch the movie.

The last part gets to me the most. I used to sing this song every single day walking through the halls of my school where everybody hated me. ( used to be a cutter and I felt like the "you bleed just to know you're alive" part made me feel like somebody KNEW and somebody understood for once.. I loved it ).

When I first heard this song I love it on the spot. I don't know the title and then I asked one of my friends what is the title of this song, he smiled at me and then said: "It's your name."
It made me smile and still is.
