With Every Good-bye...

With every Good-bye

After a while you learn the subtle difference

Between holding a hand, and chaining a soul

And you learn that love doesn.t mean leaning

And company does not mean security

And you begin to learn that kisses aren.t contracts,

And presents aren.t promises,

And you begin to accept your defeats

With your head up and your eyes open~

With the grace of a woman/man,

Not the grief of a child,

And you learn to build all your roads on today

Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans

And future have a way of falling down in mid-flight,

After a while you learn

That even sunshine burns if you get too much,

So plant your own garden

And decorate your own soul~

Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers,

And you learn that you are really strong

And you really do have worth

And you learn and learn......

With every good-bye you learn.

(in memory of eithne o.flaherty-o.donnell 1948-1988)

thoughtsandideas.....maybe one toooooo much...it is very personal and i do not assume,i just did not look at your profile coz the way you comment on an old "irish historic poem" from a woman written in the 18th century is..a bit strange..i shared it..and thought....<br />
but i guess you have serious private probs@the moment.-i respect but the cockyness+judge-mental way of your comment.....is just worth what i wrote..no more time....take care and hope u get a gripon your probs...good luck.

I hate this poem, by ex boyfriend just gave to me as some kind of bloody gesture of how he thinks i'm feeling after our breakup. I don't feel like any of this. I was never possessed by his love. I never felt kisses were contracts. I truly think this poem is how he's feeling. Complete bullshit. I write my own poetry and don't need someone telling me how to feel. This from a guy who loves to look at other women. NIce.

nope no false honors..lol...a good female friend sent it to me..after a break up and i "loved" it..worth to share.thanks

you are the master of your own luck......thanks

This poem is beautiful. If we are lucky, we do learn all of those things. Thank you for sharing it. :)
