Light And Sound

I lived in the foothills of East Tennessee for a while when I was younger. We used to sit on the front porch and watch the storms roll by in the night. Flashes of lightening filled the sky with blue streaks, followed almost immediately by jolting cackles of thunder that shook the air like an old window slamming shut. The storm would awe us for 20 minutes, and then only the long echoes of the thunder could be heard as it traveled down the valley.
