My Ice Craving Was From An Iron Deficiency...

I use to crave ice and one day i found out that i had an iron deficiency and my doctor sent me to a hematologist to get iron treatments.

Iron deficiency anemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells because of low iron levels in the body. The bone marrow requires iron to produce red blood cells, and healthy blood cells contain hemoglobin, an iron-rich protein that carries oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. Consumption of low-iron foods leads to iron deficiency anemia but can be treated by intravenous iron therapy.

Symptoms of Iron Deficiency
Anemia Symptoms of iron deficiency anemia occur due to reduced oxygenation of body organs. Patients experience symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, dizziness, headache, ringing in the ears, pale skin, coldness in hands and feet, irritabilty, problems concetrating, confusion, loss of sex drive and craving for non-food items such as ice and soil, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center.
