I Love To Eat

I have been wanting to lose weight, but so far it hasn't' been working. I have a awesome workout routine (cardio, weight, core strength) that I am very consistent with. However, this alone has not been working in helping me to loose weight. Yes I know, diet is probably what is holding me up. The problem is, I LOVE to eat. Now its not like I'm obese or overweight, its just that I have a few extra pounds that I would be happy to get rid of. My eating is not crazy either, its not like I binge on potato chips and soda every day. In fact, I don't drink soda, I rarely eat chips, I avoid dairy (for my skin cause I hear that helps), I eat whole grains, I limit sweets ( I do admit I love sweets, but I don't go overboard with them), I don't eat meat often, I'd say I have a pretty healthy diet! But I love to eat! I mean, i don't think its an emotional eating (I don't think I over eat in my opinion), I just enjoy tasting food! Well perhaps sometimes I do eat emotionally, but nothing extreme. Here is an example of what I eat in a typical day:
Breakfast: Cereal (Usually granola) and soy milk, coffee, banana or apple, (or eggs and whole wheat sprouted grain toast and coffee and fruit), (or whole wheat sprouted grain toast with peanut butter and applesauce and coffee and perhaps fruit) Oh and I sweeten my coffee with a no calorie sweetener and I use soy milk as creamer
Lunch: Avocado, tomato, lettuce, onion, veggie meat sandwich (or any variation depending on what is in the house) apple or banana, perhaps a pear but I don't really like pears but sometimes I do depending on the type of pear.
Dinner: this one really varies, tonight I had homemade baked beans, and an apple, and a banana, and a brownie. We eat alot of stuff over rice (brown rice mind you) like strogonoff, or like a pot pie filling (That was a new recipe, but it was alright but it had potatoes in it and I try to stay away from those cause its starchy)

Anyhow I do probably eat some snacks through out the day, depending on the day. And lately there have been more sweets around the house on account of company and everyone is baking something all the time.
But my diet is not to shabby! Okay granted I could afford a few more veggies, maybe a salad (I can't never find a salad dressing I like), but aside from that it seems pretty healthy, right! And aside from that I reallllllly enjoy eating it! I enjoy eating anything! I wake up in the morning and the first thing I think is YES breakfast, I can eat! I get a little sad after breakfast because I'm done (Not necessarily full, I don't often feel full or like I ate any thing at all) But I just assume that I had eaten enough and I don't want to over do it so I cut myself off and wait for the next meal. Hmm. come to think of it it might have some emotional connection with my obsession, well maybe not obsession, that seems to strong, with food and eating, but I don't know whats causing it or how to stop it. Anyhow I truly do love to eat as well, I like flavors and experiences, and everything. I like to cook, and even sometimes like to shop for food. But I want to loose weight so I have to probably cut down on my eating or change what I am eating but I don't know how I will do it cause I enjoy food to much and I like to eat and there may be an elusive emotional problem and so I am not sure what to do. Anyway, that is my story at the moment.

Your diet and exercise routine seems sensible, alright. You didn't mention portion sizes. Are you a student, or sedentary at work? Maybe you could eat smaller portions and/or find a way to be more active in your daily activities. Some diet gurus tell us to eat five times a day, three modest square meals and two sensible snacks.
You're pretty young, and at a good age to set yourself up for a lifetime of healthy habits. Your approach seems sensible. Good luck!
