to Broaden One's Mind ....

to broaden one's mind ...

have you ever noticed those that do not like to hear differing opinions and thoughts are very close-minded, judgemental, idealistic - yet not realistic, and most usually they're not fulfilling they're potential in life and are miserable?

i enjoy a good debate.  i enjoy differing thoughts and opinions.  many times it's eye opening.  some times doing so will have such a profound affect to actually change the course of your life for the better.  listening to others, respecting their points of view, etc. is yet another form of education.

broaden your mind today and engage in a conversation with someone who has differing views than that of your own.  you might learn something new.  you might learn something about yourself.  you might make a new friend.

I totally agree, not that I'm perfect at all. My father is very ideological, judgemental, and won't listen to others views at all, they are wrong. I've begun to figure out a little about myself in terms of how I was raised. Both of my parents are really bad about not listening to me. Not just on serious subjects but in general, cutting me off when I'm talking, not listening to what I'm saying. I've only realized this pretty recently but now I notice how often it happens and how it's so subtle but unmistakable. It helps me understand a little why I'm quiet.
