Take A Break

When was the last time you did absolutely nothing?

Not because you had nothing to do, but because you chose to spend some time simply "being" without having an agenda to follow?

Granted, this isn't an easy task - we live in such a fast-paced society that it's almost impossible to step back and declare a "time out".

But sometimes, that's exactly what we need to do!

Giving into the assumption that we should constantly be productive is what leads to burn-out - that icky feeling you get when you have so much to do but lack the inspiration to even get out of bed.

This is your bodies way of telling you that you need a break.- that you need to regroup, refocus and most importantly, rejuvenate!

But what would you do if you weren't doing anything?

That's the whole point. Take time to just sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. Watch a sunset (or a sunrise), drink hot cocoa, curl up in front of a fireplace, take a nap, read a book or just sit quietly with your thoughts.

The point is to allow yourself some time to just "exist" without any specific to-do list for you to follow. And when you learn to master this one little trick, you'll find that the rest of your life is so much more productive and enjoyable as a result!

For at least a couple of years I practiced taking a Sabbath modeled after but not as strict as an orthodox Jewish Sabbath. It was in the middle years of raising my children. Taking one day to do nothing that I considered work (including cooking etc). It really rejuvenated me and seemed to make me more productive the rest of the week.

Awesome! Great advice....:) Sounds like a perfect way to relax, regroup and refocus on life and the great things that are missed when we dont take a deep breath and see what we are missing...:) U sound very together.....send me more of this or just a message if u want to...and remember....always stay barefoot! lol terry

Love this! Sounds like 'peace of mind' time to me. And you've motivated me to go back to sleep this morning... there's nothing that pressing and my eyes are burning from lack of sleep this whole week. Time to slow down for a day or two. "Nothing" might not happen, but a nap is next on my agenda. Love you, girl. Thanks for sharing and reminding me.
