Publicly Wear To Get A ReactionI like to go to the mall, to restaurants, or to movies in unisex clothing (slanting more toward feminine), with my face made up and my nails done. I've gotten the expected looks of shock, but the majority of the reactions and comments have been very positive. At one fast food place, the female cashier said, "I love your makeup! Who did it for you, or did you do it yourself? It's stunning! I like the fact that you don't look like a drag queen." I was shaking as she said that, but I stammered out a "Thank you. I do it myself." She could see my hands shaking as I was paying for my order, and she responded, "Don't be scared...you're among friends here; and, I think it's cool! Keep it up!"
On another occasion, at a major department store in the mall, the sales girl in the hosiery section noticed my polished toenails and the fact that I was wearing pantyhose and wedge-heeled sandals. She enthusiastically complimented me and signed me up for their Pantyhose Club. As I was signing the application, she noticed my new set of acrylics, and also complimented me on the color my tech had chosen for my fingernails. She held my hands in hers for a minute and asked who did them for me. I guess she wasn't happy with her own nail tech and wanted to give "my girl" a try. I gave her the tech's contact information and made a new friend. That was one of my best visits to the mall EVER!!
