As the Executive Director of a recently established public foundation, it has been an interesting year in the never-ending development of what we hope will be a solid working model for generating interest and funds for our strategic initiatives.

Raising funds in the past six months has been... not the most enjoyable thing I've experienced in my nearly forty-four years, and so two weeks ago, out of the blue, I decided that I would ride my bicycyle from California (where my family is), to British Columbia, where the foundation is based... to clear my head, get into shape, raise awareness and a funds for a few charities along the way.

I turn 44 on April 12, which is Easter Sunday this year, and so I will be rolling out early Easter Sunday, and heading north. The total distance is between 1300 & 1400 miles.

Given that the decision to do this only came to me a short time ago, and day one is only a short time away, I will be spending the next three weeks prepping my gear, supporters along the route (especially Twitterers), and funders and sponsors who want to direct a few dollars to a unique and deserving effort.

The simple wordpress site with the basic information will go up on April 2. I do hope that we can raise more than a handful of dollars for the inaugural ride's chosen cause, Multiple Sclerosis, and the associated charities.
