Too Shy For Even Singstar

When I was younger and had lots of sleepovers, I would feel the confidence to sing when we listened to music and played around, but that was only because there was one other person there. If there were anymore than that, I probably wouldn't be able to.

I still love singing now but I can hardly sing along to a song knowing someone else can hear me. It can really suck sometimes because I just want to belt it out! (which is what I do when I'm home alone, LOL).

I've even had friends ask me over to play SingStar, but I always make up excuses not to go because I don't want to look like an idiot being too shy to even sing on that.

I don't know why I worry about it so much. I've been told I have a nice voice (in those times when people have actually heard it), so what is there to obsess over?

I Wish id said that beacause thats exactly my problem

Maybe you could try gradually building up the number of people you sing in front of. Just whenever a song you like comes on. If you don't do it self-consciously, everyone stays relaxed, and then that could help you feel more relaxed doing it, so you can slowly build more confidence. I used to be shy too, but recently started to not give a damn. I always notice that when someone shows that they're self-conscious about something, everyone else gets nervous too and that makes the entire situation more uncomfortable. <br />
It's even better that you have a voice people like :) Then they won't vilify you for singing. Not many people have a perfect voice anyway, so don't worry about it. Just belt it out!
