Swimming Fully Clothed Was Something I Always Wanted to Do
Swimming fully clothed was something I always wanted to do but the opportunity never presented itself. All of pools required swim trunks and because my mom was terrified of water, we didn't go to lakes or any other natural bodies of water where there could be swimming. My dad taught me to fish but there were no chances of getting into the water. Someday I knew that would change. When I was 13 we were on vacation we traveled throughout southern Indiana seeing all kinds of natural and historic sites but no fishing and no swimming. Our last stop was my grandparents’ cottage about a quarter of a mile from the Wabash River. I mentioned again that we hadn't gone fishing. My mom had had enough of my complaining and told me to go to the river and go fishing. I grabbed my fishing gear and took off for the river. Someone had built a floating platform secured to the riverbank with a rope. As I climbed on to it, it rocked wildly in the water. "This is going to be perfect” I thought. I left my tackle box on shore and walked with my fishing pole over to the edge of the platform. Just as I expected, the platform heeled up spilling me into five feet of water, which is where I really wanted to be in the first place. I put my fishing pole on the platform as spent the rest of the afternoon swimming in the river. I loved how my clothes felt floating around me and how they felt clinging to my body when I got out of the water only to jump in again. I was in heaven! As it was a hot summer day, I was mostly dry when I got back to the cottage. I said I didn't catch anything but I had a good time anyway. After that, swimming fully clothed took a lot more effort. Eventually, I had to find a girl who also likes swimming in her clothes, marry her, and install a pool in the back yard. And all these years later, I still enjoy it as much as ever!
