Travel to Italy

One of my goals are to travel to my homeland. Italy is not really my homeland since I was born in the USA. My grandparents both came to America in the early 1900's.  I have seen the movie " Under the Tuscan Sun" over a dozen times and have fallen in love with Italy and all it's charm. I would love to hear from others who have traveled to Italy and their likes/dislikes.

Italy is so wonderful. What provinces do you want to go to?? I lived in Piemonte last year. The only thing I would suggest is that the more Italian you know the better off you are. Not only did it deepen my experience but it also helped me to get around when i was in a place where they did not speak english. However, I lived in Asti which is not a tourist town which is probably why not many people spoke english. I didnt explore tuscany too much but Florence was my favorite city in the entire country definitely. What time of year do you plan to go?
