M U L L E D ~ W I N E M A R V E L O U S

I'M TOLD THAT - When the American GI's came over
to the UK in 1942 they could not get used to drinking
warm beer ! Most homes did not have fridges and ice
was something that grew on ponds & lakes WINTER !
All wine was served at  20C  (room temperature)  and
in the Winter Brits heated wine to make  MULLED WINE !



MULLED WINE WITH FRUIT AND CINNAMON 

2  Bottles Red Wine (Cabernet Sauvignon)
1  Orange stuck with cloves
2  Oranges - sliced
2  Lemons - sliced
6  Tablespoons of honey
2  Cinnamon sticks
2  Teaspoons ginger
100 ml cherry brandy (or spirit)

Place all ingredients in a pan with 2.5 pints water
heat to simmering point and simmer for 20 minutes
Serve hot.  It will serve 20 x 150 ml wine glasses.
It can be prepared in advance cooled & reheated.
Only serve the liquid - not the fruit or cinnamon !
