Vanilla And Travel

yet another link between food and travel for me.

I went to Mombassa and from there to Madagascar and a few other places- an amazing journey from a culinary perspective!!

The ladies selling vanilla bunches on the side of the road tied together with a small piece of raffia for a mere pittance. Ok the pods were not the number 1 quality but the fragrance of these bunches for the remainder of my journey was amazing.
I love the scent vanilla adds to food,, right across the board in all recipe types-but I must say I get frustrated at the charge of a single pod in some places.
