I Love Video Games
I was just thinking of the villains in the video games I play. Mostly Final Fantasy Villains mind you.
For starters, I really do not like how everyone starts comparing one Villain to another from a previous game, and say how much of a better Villain they were than the previous one. I STRONGLY disagree with those statements. Each of the game's Antagonists has their ups and downs for a reason, Tragic Hero vs. Tragic Villain. The Protagonist has one flaw: The Antagonist.
I do not know if people who truly play The Final Fantasy Franchise realizes that if each Villain were perfect it'd make the game extremely boring. I must admit The Emperor wasn't a very in-depth Villain but you must consider the limits on the bandwidth and memory for Final Fantasy back then. But I believe Final Fantasy did great with the Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IV. I loved the Villain's connections to the Protagonist's struggle through the game. Magus Zeal was the perfect Anti-Hero, he didn't really care for what Crono and company did as long as Lavos was defeated AND he can save his older sister, Schala. I might just a fangirl examining each character respectively but I must say they have their longing affects on our idea of what a Villain should look, sound, act, walk, and fight like. I have to say, they inspire me to write stories or even ideas.
I love Ultimecia, Kuja, Sephiroth, Golbez, Kefka, Emperor, Exdeath, Cloud of Darkness, and even Jecht. I WILL admit Sephiroth has gotten all the hooplah for a lifetime. I wish someone would help the other Villains shine through too, cause to be honest I think Sephiroth was ALRIGHT, but simply not the BEST. So those who believe Sephiroth is the best, GET OVER IT. Take a good long look at his motivations compared tot he rest of the Villains. He has some very, not really solid ones, but hey, we need a deranged psychopathic Villain too. ![]()
