The Great Martyr Of Art...

When I think about Van Gogh I cannot help thinking about him as a martyr of the art. Sometimes I get that feeling about some people are born with the right to be happy, successful, famous. OK, Van Gogh got fame but not in life. In life he was as miserable, poor and misunderstood as an artist can be... just because he dared to do what few have done: be himself, authentic. Because he painted no what he had to paint but what he felt, things as he saw them... and perhaps that is the price to be authentic: misunderstanding, loneliness, madness. That is what makes him so wonderful, so beautiful...
