I Love Walking
I love taking nice long walks. Especially in the early mornings and early to late evenings, when the sun is only beginning to peek over the hill, or when the setting sun turns red and orange and pink and lights up the sky with an amazing aura of colours and shades.
I love the way it feels like you're walking in time suspended. Thoughts reflective and calm, emotions tender, memories gently floating past your eyes and settling slowly on everything you are seeing. Nothing else matters for a few minutes, except love and appreciation for everything in your life. Even if things have been ugly that day. It's beautiful for just a few minutes.
When life is getting you down and there's a burden too heavy on your shoulders, there are few things as liberating and as calming as just getting up and deciding to walk somewhere aimlessly. As you calm down you begin to notice more things around you that you didn't notice before. You're aware of more sounds, smells and sights.
I've often dreamed of just getting up, leaving everything behind and going for the longest walk of my life. I'd love to walk, live and sleep in the wilderness for months and just live off the earth. I'd love to explore the vast expanse of earth that lies beyond the cities and forget about all their problems and complications. If that's not freedom then I don't know what is.
