he English Civil War killed a higher proportion of the British population than any other. In the seven years between 1642 and 1649, an amazing 1 in 10 of the adult male population died: more than three times the proportion that died in WWI and five times the proportion than in WWII.

  | Posted Jan 24th, 2008 at 2:56PM I wonder how that compares to the Civil War in the US back in the 1800's. I have read that many more people were killed in that war than all of our other wars combined.   |

| Posted Jan 24th, 2008 at 3:02PM I crunched some numbers and came up with a rought estimate of 4% of the male population was killed in that war. Still quite small compared to the 10% in your civil war. |
