The First Time Is Always The Best.I still remember my first time. I was 10, and I was at the lake with my brother and sister and our babysitter. It was the first time I got my socks wet. I love wet socks.
It was the evening before Labor Day in 1979. Our parents were away in the Poconos for the weekend, and our babysitter had just taken us out for ice cream. After ice cream, we went to the lake. It was a hot and humid evening and the sun was just going down behind the hills, and there was a haze over the lake. The babysitter asked us if we wanted to go swimming. None of us had a swimsuit with us, but the babysitter said we could just go swimming in our clothes.
We told her that we weren't allowed to, but she said they would be dry by the time our parents got home and swimming in clothes wasn't a big deal. It was a big deal to us because our mom would have killed her if she knew she let us go swimming with our socks and clothes on. To our mom getting socks wet or dirty is the worse thing a person could do.
The babysitter stepped out of her sandals and waded into the lake in her socks, her jeans. and her tank top. After the babysitter, my sister went in first. (BTW, my sister is Erica3, who wrote the story below this one.) It was a Sunday so my sister and I were still in our Sunday clothes.
I waded into the lake after my sister and the babysitter went in. I was wearing thin white socks with the lace around the cuff. The water was shallow and warm, and it felt so good. My socks turned almost transparent when I looked at them. We swam for an hour, and that was one of the best times I ever had.
Wet socks bring me such joy, but after that I had to wait a few years before I could try it again. Mom was away for the weekend but this time no babysitter was needed because I was 14. I filled up the bathtub with hot water and I got in wearing white slouch socks with pink parachute pants and a pink shirt over a white T-shirt. Wow! That was a real rush! It was wonderful. I put my feet under the running water and I adored the way my white slouch socks looked and felt. I sat in the bath all night long savoring the feeling.
I still love wet socks. Friday night I wore neon pink socks in the jacuzzi. That never stops being fun.
