Love My "Job"!

I have always loved children. In fact, I come from a large family. I recently started working part-time for my local YMCA as an after school care / camp counselor. I will admit that it has had its frustrating and slightly overwhelming moments, but overall, I absolutely love doing what I do. During the school year, I take care of kids at the elementary school they attend until their parents arrive. We help them with homework, play games, and just spend time with the children. During the summer or during holidays, we have day camp at the Y. We do lots of fun activities with various age groups of boys & girls ranging in age from 5 to 13. I know it may sound cliche', but seeing the kids laughing, smiling, and having fun and making friends while they learn valuable life lessons makes me feel so good inside. I feel like I'm doing something to help change the world, even if only in small ways. The reward is bigger than anything I can put into words, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Well, as you can tell by looking at my last comment date, it's been awhile since I've had a chance to stop by EP. So much has changed for me, including my job. I now work for a durable medical equipment company as a patient care representative. I help people with their in-home medical supply needs by providing such items as wheelchairs, diabetic supplies, hospital beds, oxygen, lift chairs, etc. I still get to work with children, but now I get to work with adults too. :o)
