Chasing Love

The first time I heard 'Try' by Pink was recently while sitting in the car one night. The beat was appealing but not only that, I looked up the lyrics to the song when I got home.

"Try" by Pink

Ever wonder about what he's doing
How it all turned to lies
Sometimes I think that it's better to never ask why

Where there is desire
There is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame
Someone's bound to get burned
But just because it burns
Doesn't mean you're gonna die
You've gotta get up and try try try
Gotta get up and try try try
You gotta get up and try try try

Eh, eh, eh

Funny how the heart can be deceiving
More than just a couple times
Why do we fall in love so easy
Even when it's not right

Where there is desire
There is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame
Someone's bound to get burned
But just because it burns
Doesn't mean you're gonna die
You've gotta get up and try try try
Gotta get up and try try try
You gotta get up and try try try

Ever worried that it might be ruined
And does it make you wanna cry?
When you're out there doing what you're doing
Are you just getting by?
Tell me are you just getting by by by

Where there is desire
There is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame
Someone's bound to get burned
But just because it burns
Doesn't mean you're gonna die
You've gotta get up and try try try
Gotta get up and try try try
You gotta get up and try try try
Gotta get up and try try try
Gotta get up and try try try
You gotta get up and try try try
Gotta get up and try try try

You gotta get up and try try try
Gotta get up and try try try

In all honesty, I was the kind of person who was always chasing love, but never admitted it to myself. I was always rushing from relationship to relationship, taking every one of them seriously without really understanding myself as a person. I relied too much on the other person for happiness and as a means to get married. This song applies to the fact that I easily 'fell' for each person I got involved with, but each time, I never felt any of them were that compatible with me. In the end, I felt burned, but I suppose it never ruined my perception of relationships and love, because I took the risk and tried with each one, despite each one ending on a bad note. This summer, I was getting over a 2 year long relationship with a person I thought was the one and in the end, felt burned. Then at the beginning of October, a genuine guy came into my life, and it's apparent this is with no doubt, the one. How do I know, as all my past relationship ended badly? His effort was honest and consistent from the start, instead of me pursuing his attention, he was doing it from the beginning and all of his actions show his concern for my well-being as a person. Not only that, we share compatibility and understand each other. We're on the same path towards getting married. So my point in writing this is, when one stops looking or chasing love, it seems to find him/her. Don't be closed off to the person who is pursuing you, or seems to care for your well-being, you might be closing the door on the one that's supposed to be yours. May happiness find you.
