Is It Love?

i think that if it's unrequited, it isn't love.

I think it's perfectly possible to love someone even if the feeling isn't mutual.
On the other hand, I don't think it's possible to be "in love" with someone who doesn't feel the same way, but that's probably just because the way I define them. To love someone is a set of feelings that originate entirely from you, towards who you think someone is (and that's the catch... a lot of the time people who love unrequitedly don't actually know the other person as well as they think, if only because unrequitedness means that they don't get to see what it would *really* be like to be in a relationship with that person).

I think you are wrong

yeah, it's not love- it's torture, but only on one person's behalf.
you can love without being loved but the pain associated with it is sometimes more than you can handle. too bad you cannot pick and choose WHO you fall in love with. heh.

You can feel love for a person without being loved back. Look at how some children love their mothers, regardless of the way they are treated.

And why do you think this? What makes it different from any other kind?
