Sadly, We Have An Islamaphobe In Our Midst

A BNP member has crawled out of the woodwork and replied to my post 'Stop The BNP'. In the usual baseless, vile invective, she equates Islam with rape, murder and torture. I'm not going to go any further in this post (though I will post this in one or two other groups), but I would ask you to take a look at my post, and see what you think. Oh, and she appears to have barred me from looking at her profile, which smacks of cowardice to me.

I've had to get rid of the link, sadly, because I can't seem to get it right! Oh well, take a peek at 'Stop the BNP' in 'I detest Racists' and you could also have a look at this website (hope it works!)

It was a bit more than that Mizzen.
The entire German nation got behind the "Poor Picked on Christian German" theory, a long held and sadly now revitalized bogus victimization theology.
WHich is now growing in the U.S..
And which is feeding the hysteria, just as it did last time.

Yes, agreed bitlord. It was their skewering of scientific and Darwinistic principles, as is shown in the writings of the Nazis and some German biologists of the earlier part of the 20th century that permeated everything the Nazis believed in and perpetrated.
I have to disagree with one thing.
Nazism and particularly Mein Kampf are all about religion, as when Hitler said he was 'doing god's work' in striking the Jews.

Nobody is trying to say that Islam has nothing to do with violence, only that ALL religious texts condone violence if you search for it, and that all cultures and societies have commited violence at one time or another.

"You shall destroy all the peoples ... showing them no pity." (7: 16)

"... All the people present there shall serve you as forced labour." (20:12)

"... You shall put all its males to the sword. You may, however, take as your booty the women, the children, the livestock, and everything in the town -- all its spoil -- and enjoy the use of the spoil of your enemy which the LORD your God gives you." (20:14-15)

"... You shall not let a soul remain alive." (20:17)

This is from the part of the Old Testament called the Torah (Deuteronomy), a scripture that is holy to both Judaism and Christianity, but neither faith is seen as condonibng war or violence against others. The above quotes, as with those used by others to condemn Islam are taken out of context, including historical context.
The Qur'an repeatedly emphasizes that defensive war -- fighting to protect oneself against invading enemies -- is the only kind of combat sanctioned (2:190 - 191). In numerous other examples, it teaches that the use of force should be a last resort (2:192, 4:90); that normal relations between peoples, nations and states, whether Muslim or not, should be peaceful (49:13); that necessary wars must be limited in time and space (2:190); that maximum effort must be applied at all times to advance the cause of peace (10:25); that whatever means are undertaken to work for peace during a conflict (such as mediation and arbitration) must be attempted over and over again until resolution is achieved (8:61); that freedom of religion must be granted to every one (2:256), and so on.

Leviticus 20:10 to 20:15 advocates stoning to death for adultery, but this has kind of gone by the wayside. Again, I reiterate, all texts can and are taken out of context, including non-religious texts (take a look at Nazi ideology) by human beings with an agenda.
Sadly, violence and oppression is all around us. Why can't we live together, respect and celebrate diversity? Is it too much to ask for?
All cultures and religions have used violence at one time or another. Both Britain and America have violent histories, as well as Christians and Jews. You cannot point to one group and say their religion is based on that. All religious texts condone violence if you look for it.

There is not one culture or society in this world that has not used violence or oppression against another. To deny it would be hypocritical.

Sorry, but your statement simply isn't true. The Crusades were fought between between 1095 and 1291 to restore Christian control of the Holy Land, so Christians have nothing to be proud of historically. No religion encourages violence against any other. It is the way the texts are interpreted by others for their own ends that is the problem. Look also at what has happened in recent history, for example in Bosnia in the 1990's, which I commented on yesterday in these very pages.
Sara, yes, one of the Blue People strikes again.
As I say, she's also blocked me from seeing her profile, which I find very cowardly. What has she got to hide, except more of the same of this invective. Sadly, this bigotry is still prevalent everywhere, but as you say there are a lot of us who preach reason.

Thanks Sara
Miz... I am saddened by the extreme views of this person -- and her blind and unreasoning hatred... it is sad and very, very worrisome when this kind of unreasoning nativism takes over... we are seeing it here in the States too, although there are still many of us preaching reason, rationalism and acceptance as well. Sigh.

I note that the woman who spewed this invective has not even bothered to choose an avatar yet... more deep thinking from one of the Blue People.

Yes, you are absolutely right, Louise. We have only just commemorated those who laid down their lives in fighting fascism. My late mother lived in the East End of London at the Time of the Battle of Cable STreet, where working class Londoners drove away Oswald Mosely's Blackshirts. This is in stark contrast to the repulsive works spoken by this particular EP member. Yos, she has a democratic right to spout them, and I have a, equally democratic right to say exactly what I think of these views.
We celebrated Rememberance Day yesterday, fighting against Hitler and the Nazis. The BNP idoloze the Nazis. We won because all that the Nazis stood for was wicked and wrong. We must ensure that this never happens again, certain ethnic groups must not be vilified like the Jews were. We must learn from history.
