I Make Digital Art
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Painter program! It is so much fun. I am still learning it's ins and outs, but have been "painting" with it all afternoon. Too cool.
Not a substitute of course for getting paint on my hands and face (which of course, makes me feel like a real artist! lol), but the no mess thing can be kind of a good thing. I still have to use my imagination, and my color theory. I still have to know how and where I want to take the picture.... I just use a tablet and pen instead of a brush. It is still created out of my brain.... and I LOVE the layers feature! If I screw something up, I just fix it's layer, or delete the layer altogether, and still have my underpainting, or background and other elements. It totally rocks for that! I can experiment with colors without fear of muddying up the entire thing by redoing it, if I am not happy with it. It is easy to do "mixed media" pictures with the different looks of the brushes and other tools like chalk pastel. I have a palette, also where I can mix my own colors.
I don't think it will replace my love of actual painting... it is just another tool in my art box. :)
