I get false awakenings like this (it is REALLY annoying). Here are some things you can try although if he is stabbing you I don't make any promises of it working. I would suggest that the first thing you try would be to fight back (it's a dream give yourself a gun or something to shoot the guy with), or if you want a weird look into your psyche (I have done this a few times with interesting results) get out of the bad situation and then question the motives of the dc. At the very least you can stop him long enough to turn him into an ice cream cone or something cool. Worst comes to worst the best thing to do is wake up and in my experience there are 2 ways to do that. The first is the classic open your eyes trick which works 90% of the time and the other is to become so aware that you are dreaming you wake up (i know i have done this when everything starts fading to white). Hope this helps good luck with it.

Dream within a dream is actually not uncommon. I have had this a couple times myself and read about many others' experiences. Also, viewing oneself from another angle, I'm not sure if others often dream that, but I do dream that I'm watching myself from above or outside fairly often, as well as dreaming that I am other people/genders/ages/races etc. Since all the images in a dream are produced in the imagination, and everyone is familiar with watching scenes in movies from a third person perspective, it's not hard to understand how this can happen. It just shows you're being creative and cinematic with your dreams. Now, if that starts happening in real life, you might be experiencing some psychosis...
