More On Meditation

Let me just remind everyone that I claim to be an expert on nothing but my own experiences. With that in mind, here are my thoughts on Meditation as requested by Hecksithia.

People all over the world use meditation for many different reasons: Enlightenment, Pain Management, Self-Hypnosis, forms of Astral Projection, and many other reasons. The art of meditation is calming the mind, or clearing out everything until there's nothing left to distract. Some people stop there and enjoy the quiet. This state is where people have claimed to discover enlightenment. I have to say, escaping from their lives could very well be considered enlightenment to them, but it is possible to come to some epiphany in this state.

Others use meditation to contemplate a certain idea or action. Witches use meditation to reach many different levels of conciousness. We use it during ritual wether we realize it or not. We use it for certain methods of astral projection, and we use it to ground ourselves as well. Wikipedia sais: Meditation refers to any of a family of practices in which the practitioner trains his or her mind or self-induces a mode of consciousness in order to realize some benefit.

If you are wanting to learn methods and technique I'm not sure that I am your font of knowledge. I meditate as often as I can, but not as much as I once did (which actually saddens me). I find it easier to meditate with aids like quiet, calming music and candles. This is going to sound funny, but have you ever seen "I Heart Huckabees"? There is a really good method of clearing the mind for those who have trouble with the proccess. In order to reach a meditative state, you must clear everything out so that random thoughts aren't popping in here and there to distract you. Go through everything in your mind, from the things you experienced today, to the dreams you've been having, even memories that come up most often in your daily life. If you start out thinking of these things, weeding through so to speak, they are less likely to pop up later when you are at your "still" point. Clearing the mind is not as easy for some people as it is for others. Meditation is a great way to teach self-discipline.

What do you do when you reach your "still" point? That depends on the purpose for your meditation. If you were aiming to be still, you are there. If you were aiming to recieve something, then you would begin to concentrate on the "transmitting" force after you reach your "still" point. If you were aiming to manifest something in your life then you would concentrate on how it feels to already posses it. If you were aiming to astral project then you would concentrate on that. It really depends. Like I said before, I'm deffinately not an expert on the subject. I would suggest reading ofcourse. There are some good techniques out there. I haven't done much research on just meditation so I don't have specific titles for you, but alot of occult books have sections devoted to meditation. Although I'm not a huge fan of his works, Constantinos does have some good methods mixed in with his "Nocturnal Witchcraft" books. Poke around the internet. There are hundreds of sites with free info and techniques.

Many Blessings and I hope that helps a little.
