Watch My Breath and Try to Empty My Mind

I practice meditation on a daily basis and have for the past 20 years.  I still sometimes find it very difficult.  I have a quite place in my home, I sit, slowly breathe in an out - I actually assign a color to my breath and visualize it entering my body through my nose and leaving through my mouth.  My next task is to try and empty my mind.  Usually this is very difficult.  Considering so many thoughts race through my mind, I try to just sit with the thoughts, let them arise and leave without trying to play with them (let them die a natural death).  By this I mean that I try and just watch my thoughts as if they are a movie and not participate in trying to figure them out, run with them etc.

This is a very difficult subject to try and explain.  I find that meditation on a daily basis is helpful in my overall well-being.

I believe that there are many types of meditation and that it is a wonderful journey to test out many different ways until you find the one that works for you.

I have a very difficult time meditating although I know it's helpful. It requires discipline and I don't make the time. I used to meditate when I was very depressed, but I have let it go. I just purchased some meditation CD's to get me started again. I guess I better take the shrink wrap off and get started.
