I Have the Greatest Friend of All

I miss my best friend. We live far apart. She lives up north and I love in the south. We have been best friends since we were 13 years old.  We have maintained our best friendship for nearly 35 years!  We make it a point to visit each other a couple of times a year. Every year for MLK Birthday weekend, we make it a point to visit for the long weekend. This year I went  to visit her with my granddaughter (she's 6) We had the best time. We spent a couple days in NYC with the girls (her daughter is 10) and the girls had the best time in the city. We spent the night in Times Square and we all had a blast.  We took the kids to see Mary Poppins on Broadway. My granddaughter is still talking about it.

We spend a vacation week together in the summer. We are so glad our husbands are friends too. It helps make for great vacations. This spring we're going to meet in Las Vegas for a week.

We have a great joke we read somewhere so many years ago "You'll always be my best friend, you know too much." We had refrigerator magnets made that say that. We have several matching "best friends" keychains we keep on out keys.  We have so many stories from our teenage antics and so many memories from our 35 year friendship.  We have shared many happy times, sad times and she is a breast cancer survivor.  I used to fly up to spend time with her and take her for some of her chemo treatments.  I don't know what I'd do without my best friend and the telephone! I wonder how many minutes we've burned up over the years? We sometimes talk for several hours at a time.  It is great to have someone who you can confide in, knows everything about you but still loves you anyway. Who can ask for more? I love and miss my best friend.
